High Performance Learning

Chorley New Road Primary Academy is accredited as a High Performance Learning ‘World Class School’.

We use the High Performance Learning (HPL) philosophy and framework in our school as we believe that all students can be high performers, and we teach with these expectations in mind.

Using the research-based HPL approach helps us to systematically build the cognitive competencies that lead a young person to thrive in school and in later life.

At Chorley New Road, our staff are developing all pupils into ‘High Performance Learners.’ This means that we are developing all of our pupils to be the best that they can be to achieve their potential, fulfil their aspirations and be ready to take on the challenges that the real world presents when they leave us at the end of Year 6.

Embedding Formative Assessment

Staff at Chorley New Road are experts in Embedding Formative Assessment (EFA), meaning our teachers and learning support staff gain valuable insights into children’s learning, identifying gaps in knowledge, and adapting teaching to meet individual needs; to deepen formative assessment practices, strengthen classroom dialogue, and improve outcomes for all learners.

Chorley New Road is part of Albany Learning Trust, which is the first multi-academy trust to be named an Embedding Formative Assessment Ambassador with the Schools, Students and Teachers network, in recognition of our schools completing the EFA programme, and our commitment to sharing our expertise and experience with other schools in the area.
